Launched in 2013 by the Spanish government, investors and their families who invest at least €500,000 in real estate and meet other requirements, are offered a fast-track route to obtaining a Spanish residence permit- which is a blessing when considering the limitations of conventional residency applications.
Those who are part of the Spain Golden Visa program do not have a minimum period of residence imposed upon them. Their initial residency card is granted for one year which can be renewed every two years, and after five years it is possible to gain permanent residency and after ten years, citizenship.
There are many great benefits that come along with the program including fast processing times, visa-free travel, the rights to live, work and study in Spain for spouses, and children under the age of 18.
